History

The Monthalia Methodist Church was founded on March 13, 1886. Reverend Daniel Matthaei, born in Germany and educated in Ohio, was the pastor of the Seguin Methodist Church when he organized Monthali Methodist Church. The first public worship service was held in a little school house.

These images are taken directly from a book called A Century of Methodism 1886-1986 A History of the United Methodist Church written by Leonard Gandre and Estelle Froehner in celebration of our 100th anniversary. Copies of this book can be found in our sanctuary and church library.
